Abstract
This chapter has presented some of the common types of culture media used in the pharmaceutical and healthcare microbiology laboratory for the purpose of environmental monitoring, using conventional methods. Here the choice can be with two media (one for fungi and one for bacteria) or a single culture medium. Other choices required are with incubation times and temperatures. This chapter reviews available literature on the subject and provides guidance for making this important choice. The chapter additionally addresses culture media release and testing.
