Abstract

Quantum computing (QC) is a new area of research which incorporates elements from mathematics, physics, and computing. Quantum computing has generated a growing interest among scientists, technologists, and industrialists. Over the past decade it provided a platform for research to people in the scientific, technical, and industrial fields. Quantum physics concepts have been used in developing the basics of QC. In QC, the parallel processing feature has reduced the algorithm complexities which are being used. This feature helped find solutions to several optimization problems and issues that were related to it. Quantum inspired intelligent computational methods have been used in several application areas. Image segmentation is one such area and the exploration of this feature in image segmentation is the primary focus of this chapter.
