Abstract

In the last few decades, wound healing is a major concern in health-care system due to ageing, obesity, and various types of chronic diseases like ulcer, diabetes, or cancer. Due to the complex nature of wound healing, the conventional treatments are not effective and also insufficient to handle delayed healing. Nowadays, electrospun nanofibrous systems have been widely investigated in wound management for their unique properties. In this chapter, the electrospinning technique, to produce nanofibrous system, has been described. Subsequently, various natural polymers and their characteristic properties for wound healing, and blending of these polymers with synthetic polymers or several additives for functionality for wound healing application have been explained. Finally, commercially available natural polymer–based electrospun systems for wound management have also been listed.
