Abstract

The search for sustainable options to increase agricultural output is necessary due to the overpopulation of the population on earth and the demand for high-quality foods. To boost crop yield, farmers frequently employ more nitrogen, phosphate, or potash fertilizers, as well as other chemical fertilizers which in turn is causing harm to the environment. Soil nutrient management with microbial preparations is an excellent sustainable approach. Microbial formulations, however, exhibit unstable effects, which precludes their widespread adoption. This chapter summarizes plant-beneficial rhizobacteria–based synbiotics and the relationship between soil nutrients and the microbial community for improving plant growth and resistance to disease. Moreover, we have discussed considerations for the efficient use of microbial synbiotics in the fields.
