Abstract

This chapter focuses on the advanced methods of managing Virtual Server. Configuration management of Virtual Server as well as that of each virtual machine from a graphical user interface can only be done from the Virtual Server Administration Web site. A central Virtual Server management site enables a user to leverage a single Internet Information Services instance with the Virtual Server Administration Web site for management of all Virtual Server hosts. The other method of managing Virtual Server is by using the COM API and programming the actions through your favorite programming environment, whether a scripting environment or any other development language. The COM interface is a layer between the management application and the Virtual Server configuration. The Virtual Server COM object has several properties. Many properties are read-only, such as informational and runtime properties. Virtual Server depends on the scripting language. Any scripting language can be used for Virtual Server management such as VBScript or Jscript, or any other language that supports COM automation, like C++, VB.Net, or C#.
