Abstract

During the last few decades, plausible reasons for differences in innovation introduction and persistence in our field began to absorb my thoughts as much as the scientific content of presentations and publications. This chapter sketches out some partial answers to the nagging question, what other than scientific soundness influences the fate of an innovation introduced into ecotoxicology or ecological risk assessment? For the first time in this book, issues are addressed from the vantage of emergent dynamics and structures in the science of ecotoxicology and the technology of ecological risk assessment.
