Abstract

This chapter discusses leading-edge technologies for fetching, viewing, and interacting with messages and data from remote servers by means of wireless and remote devices. Also discussed are the methods to install Mobile Information Server and configuring it to access to an Exchange Inbox on mobile telephones. Mobile Information Server also allows browsing corporate intranet from a mobile device. The chapter also focuses on how to install the Outlook Mobile Manager software, configure a profile, and how this rich client tool can help you make the best of the limited bandwidth and screen size of a mobile phone. These options include filtering and selecting the messages that you receive and compressing the size of your text messages. The chapter further explains how to configure the software to send Outlook reminders just before your appointments and task deadlines. The system even sends a summary of your meetings before the day begins. Microsoft has created technologies that enable Pocket PCs and mobile phones to access important information anytime, anywhere, and in whatever format the client supports.
