Abstract

An attempt has been made in this chapter to identify the sources of generation of wastewater. The common method of collection of wastewater and its treatment at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels are discussed. Primary treatment for removal of chemical pollutants, secondary treatment for removal of pathogenic bacteria, and tertiary treatment for reuse and recycle of the effluents for portable purposes are discussed with appropriate case studies.
