Abstract

Maintenance of genomic stability is critical to the faithful transfer of the genetic information, which is fundamental to all life. The fidelity of the genome in higher organisms is safeguarded in large part by DNA damage repair machinery present in every cell. An effective DNA damage response relies heavily on the crosstalk and coordination between metabolic and epigenetic processes. In this chapter, we discuss this coordination in the context of normal physiology and disease.
