Abstract

In the fall of 2018, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Michigan-Flint officially introduced a bachelor of science in green chemistry. We will describe the process we took from a basic idea to a fully-fledged program. Over this same time period, our department underwent many significant changes and challenges that both helped and hindered the process. We will detail these events and how we were able to access the additional support we needed to confidently launch a full degree program in green chemistry.
