Abstract

Agriculture is part of the foundation of several human communities and a means of social affirmation. If, on the one hand, this activity remains essential for the development of human communities, on the other hand, the expansion of agriculture has led to the degradation of ecosystems, the loss of biodiversity, the reduction in the quality of water, and the aggravation of the phenomenon of global warming. Agricultural practices can compete with the natural environment, due to the artificialization and overexploitation of ecosystems to produce commodities. Organic farming practices offer an alternative approach to producing food with less environmental impact. This article intends to elucidate the existing international legal guidance on organic agriculture and present suggestions to improve regulation and its implementation.
