Abstract

Over the last few years, revolutionary advancements in nanotechnology have made it the science of the future. At the same time, recent advances in triazole chemistry have greatly influenced all domains of science including nanotechnology. The nanoparticles, nanocomposites, and carbon nanotubes are the main nanomaterials that have shown innovative applications in drug delivery, bioimaging, catalysis, agriculture, pollution remediation, energy production, and storage. The surface functionalization of these nanomaterials has been used as a tool to tune their properties according to the applications. However, over the last few years, triazoles have become promising candidates for tailoring the properties of functional nanomaterials. The 1,2,4- and 1,2,3-triazole functionalized nanomaterials have shown promising applications in drug delivery, wastewater treatment, environmental toxicant remediation, colorimetric nanosensors, nanocatalysts, and biomedical implants. Herein, we present innovative examples of 1,2,4- and 1,2,3-triazole functionalized nanomaterials to highlight the promising future of triazoles in tailoring the functional properties of nanomaterials.
