Abstract

A new technology called the “invisible road” is proposed in this chapter for a better transportation infrastructure system for the development of a sustainable urban area. An underground maglev (magnetic levitation) system has been proposed to smoothly run all vehicles a little over 2ft above the Earth's surface by propulsive and impulsive force at the flying stage. The vehicle will not require any energy because it will be run by a superconducting electromagnetic force created by the maglev technology. Wind energy modeling has also been added to meet the vehicle's energy demand when it runs in a nonmaglev area. Naturally, all maglev infrastructure networks will be covered by evergreen herbs, except for pedestrian walkways, to absorb CO2, ambient heat, and moisture (vapor) from the surrounding environment to make it cool. Indeed, the proposed maglev transportation infrastructure technology will be an innovative one in modern engineering science that will also reduce climate change dramatically.
