Abstract

Regulation of Cell-Wall Degrading Enzymes Production in Fungi is discussed in this chapter. Cell Wall Degrading Enzymes (CWDEs) are a heterogeneous group of enzymes. Microorganisms having degrading activities towards plant cell wall polysaccharides are the most important source of CWDEs for application in industry. These microorganisms produce a broad range of CWDEs in quantities sternly essential for their nourishment. The secretion of CWDEs from wild type microorganisms can be enhanced at commercial scale by the use of optimized fermentation methods.
