Abstract
In this chapter, the applications of energy and exergy analyses to psychrometric processes are introduced and described. Basic psychrometric concepts and processes are also explained. The use of exergy analysis on psychrometric, HVAC, and air conditioning processes has helped efforts to improve performance. A case study is presented for an open-cycle desiccant cooling system, illustrating that results obtained through exergy analysis are clearer and more meaningful than those obtained by energy analysis and help indicate potential modifications to improve efficiency.
