Abstract

Citrix MetaFrame clients can run virtually any type of operating system. Although, they did develop several clients, Citrix also developed a client for Web browsers. With this client, applications can be provided over the Internet. Not only are standard workstations supported, but so are specially manufactured ICA terminals. These terminals are the original “Net PCs.” In this chapter, a number of MetaFrame client connectivity issues, such as selecting a protocol or using multiple protocols, along with choosing and installing the correct MetaFrame client software for your operating system have been discussed. Regardless of the method of connection, application servers, such as Citrix MetaFrame can greatly reduce administrative overhead and support costs. The advantages of the ICA MetaFrame client and also configuring and upgrading the MetaFrame client software both automatically and manually to connect to the MetaFrame server has been described at some length. Some of the common troubleshooting problems and solutions have been brought up in the chapter.
