Abstract

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common noncommunicable liver diseases with a high mortality rate. Multiomics data provide a multifaceted and detailed picture of the malignancy, serving as a powerful resource to understand a disease better. Artificial intelligence (AI), on the other hand, remains a competitive tool in its ability to identify patterns. This chapter begins with an overview of the biology of HCC, followed by a discussion on multiomics datasets associated with the disease. We focus on various studies that have used AI algorithms to exploit multiomics data to develop better health care solutions for HCC patients. These are helpful for predicting an early diagnosis, risk stratification, and personalized treatment as well as treatment deescalation. Thus, AI-enabled integration and analysis of multiomics data provide an unparalleled and excellent opportunity for researchers and clinicians to understand HCC, its severity, and clinical outcomes.
