Abstract

This chapter discusses the usage of Forefront to guard Microsoft exchange server. Microsoft Forefront Server for Exchange (FSE) is a tool that helps companies dealing with the threats associated with e-mail service. Microsoft Exchange is used in a large number of businesses for e-mail services. Microsoft FSE is not always widely used, but its integration with Active Directory makes it a more viable product for companies to use. While implementing FSE, one should ensure that one should carefully plan deployment to ensure that the additional load placed on FSE servers does not negatively impact performance and it does not inadvertently block legitimate messages. While deploying FSE, one should carefully plan deployment to ensure that one does not adversely affect the performance of Exchange servers and that one does not accidentally delete legitimate messages.
