Abstract
Based on the frequency response analysis in Chapters 2–4Chapter 2Chapter 3Chapter 4, the performance and characteristics of both electromagnetic and piezoelectric vibration energy harvesters (VEHs) have been analyzed and compared. This chapter will disclose the similarity and duality of electromagnetic and piezoelectric energy harvesters from a comparison of their normalized dimensionless harvested resonant power and energy harvesting efficiencies predicted from the dimensionless resistance and force factors. The normalized dimensionless harvested resonant power and energy harvesting efficiency analysis allow for a parameter study and optimization of the ambient VEHs from macro to nano scales and for evaluation of the VEH performance regardless of the size and type.
