Abstract

Nanoscience is a fascinating and influential field of research with several innovative and cost-effective outcomes and applications available. As new interdisciplinary research, nanoscience has recently been developed. It can be characterized as a complete understanding of the fundamental properties of nanosized objects. Almost in all areas of science and technology, such as biomedical sciences, nanotechnology relating to metallic nanoparticles is being effectively explored because of unique physical and chemical properties depending on size and shape. Nanoparticles provide many beneficial backgrounds for many applications. The distinctive components and forms are affected by the processes of synthesis and functionalization. Due to the prolonged increase in microbial infectious diseases and ineffective treatment, drug delivery carriers, drug delivery formulations, detection and diagnosis devices, biomaterial, and theranostic agents, metallic nanoparticles like silver nanoparticles have attracted considerable interest. Among the new biomedical potency of silver nanoparticles, the therapeutically improved personalized healthcare practice is of immense interest. This chapter aims to provide a thorough review of silver nanoparticles and their biomedical applications as theranostic agents providing insight into future perspectives.
