Chapter 5 - Principle and Testing Technology of Station Layers in Smart Substations

Abstract

The station layer is the core part in the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system architecture in a smart substation, which not only connects the master station of electrical dispatch system upward on the vertical but also connects the bay layer device downward. It contains human machine interface (HMI), data communication gateway, data server, protection and fault information system, and so on. The station layer system realizes the functions of panoramic monitoring, automatic operation control, and advanced application interaction using unifying collection, unifying storage, and unifying modeling. This chapter introduces the composition and features of the station layer system in the smart substation and implementation principle of the service. According to the project cases, the protocol used in the station layer is illustrated. In addition, the testing items for the station layer system are introduced.
