Abstract

This chapter summarizes the chemistry of delocalized organic radicals and provides examples of synthesis of their functionalized derivatives. In addition, their use as building blocks for obtaining molecular magnetic materials exhibiting an additional and useful physical property or function is described. These materials are also in demand for applications in spintronics as well as bistable memory devices, magneto-active sensing, and switchable materials.
