Abstract

Facing a cancer diagnosis is always detrimental. Many cancer patients have to deal with the physiological burden that cancer treatments may cause. Optimal nutrition during cancer treatment is essential in order to meet the increased nutritional demands needed to support healing and recovery. By achieving optimal nutrition, we assure that our patients are more prepared to tolerate a full treatment with fewer complications and better quality of life. The purpose of this chapter is to describe evidence-based practices for the nutritional screening, assessment, and interventions for breast and other gynecological cancer patients. Nutritional risk factors associated with increased incidence of cancer recurrence will also be discussed.
