Abstract

A case study from the chair position in a traditional program is juxtaposed to a proposal for a nontraditional program. The author uses both experiences to suggest best practices and how they might transfer between mentoring program styles. The Library Leadership and Management Association mentoring program started in 2008 is a successful, traditional style program that offers a framework and best practices that can be used in other types of programs. The American College and Research Library Distance Libraries Section was looking for a member engagement model in 2014. The results of research and a brief (single question) survey are given here, as well as the implications for this research on the future of member engagement.
