Abstract

Genome of somatic and germ line cells is transferred from a cell to its progeny through a tightly regulated process called as DNA replication. Genetic information is expressed by transcription by which RNA is synthesized from DNA. Upon transport of RNA to cytoplasm, it undergoes translation on ribosomes to form specific proteins dictated by the three letter genetic code. Variation in the genome occurs mainly by single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) or copy number variants (CNV).
