Abstract

It is important for surgeons to understand the nature of esophageal symptoms and to be aware of the various tests available to elucidate these symptoms before recommending surgical intervention to a given patient. This chapter describes a host of esophageal symptoms patients may experience and explains different testing modalities that should be carried out to ensure good surgical outcomes.
