Abstract
Until the author’s group took part into the rank of studying electroless plating (EP) at the beginning of the 1980s, they found that there were no reports on Fe-based EP alloy coatings. Why? Can the Fe-based alloys not be electroless plated really? What are the reasons? If they could be electroless plated, how can we prepare them? What are the differences between the technologies of EP Ni-based alloys and Fe-based alloys if the Fe-based alloys can be electroless plated? The group and other groups solved these problems basically in their studies for many years. This chapter just described and analyzed the EP Fe-based alloys. Some properties of the EP Fe-based alloys were also introduced because the contents are not too much and cannot increase too much length for the book. In such a way, this chapter adds a brand new chapter that is never had before to the EP.
