Abstract
The longitudinal history of electroless plating (EP) was discussed in detail in this chapter. Five stages of development can be divided. There are discovery of EP, early stage of development, slow growth of period, rapid development of period, and deep development and nano EP stage. Such description and discussion cannot be found in any existing EP or electroplating books. After studying and understanding the history of EP, people can not only know the EP more deeply and its real nature, but they may also be able to predict somewhat the developing direction of science and technology of EP. Therefore, it is very important to know the longitudinal history of EP.
