Abstract
In this chapter silica-based aerogel, cellulose-based aerogel, cellulose-based aerogel composite, applications of cellulose-based aerogels and composites were reviewed and discussed in details. Silica-based aerogels are usually used as an insulator due to its improved insulating properties and used as water vapor diffusion control which was attributed to its high surface area and porosity within the material. Cellulose-based aerogels were also utilized for the synthesis of silica-based aerogels. The sol-gel and drying process were also reported in this study.
