Abstract

There are dozens of programs for Women in Science or Girls in Science at institutions around the nation. But, if you search the Internet for “women in science day” the first three entries will lead to the Women in Science Day Program directed by Dr. Raquel Diaz-Sprague in Columbus, OH, at http://awisco.osu.edu/. This chapter chronicles the journey to success of a Hispanic woman in a challenging field such as science. Dr. Diaz-Sprague shares her personal story of how she achieved success and how she handled various challenges, motherhood, family life, and personal issues all the while establishing the Women in Science Day Program.
