Abstract
The NATA is the national authority for accreditation of laboratories conducting tests and measurements in a broad range of technical fields. The NATA accredits laboratories against criteria based on the internationally recognized standard ISO/IEC 17025: 1999 General requirements for the competence of calibration and testing laboratories as well as discipline-specific requirements set by the NATA's accreditation advisory committees. In many fields, the NATA also offers proficiency testing programs that help to evaluate and upgrade laboratory's performance. The NATA accreditation provides: independent third party evaluation and recognition, confidence in technical competence and management of the laboratory and a competitive advantage to laboratories in the market place. Accreditation also facilitates trade through international recognition of testing services.
