Abstract

Australia and New Zealand are the two largest countries in Oceania and both have technologically advanced agricultural sectors and excellent control programs for viroids. Conversely, the Pacific island nations mainly have subsistence agriculture, underresourced plant protection services, and poor knowledge about their viroid status. In this chapter, the history of detections, geographic distribution, epidemiology, and control programs for viroids in Oceania is reviewed.
