Abstract

The Side Effects of Drugs Annuals form a series of volumes in which the adverse effects of drugs and adverse reactions to them are surveyed. The series supplements the contents of Meyler’s Side Effects of Drugs: the International Encyclopedia of Adverse Drug Reactions and Interactions . This review of the 2011 publications on adverse reactions to miscellaneous hormones covers calcitonin, gonadotropins (gonadorelin, GnRH, and analogues), gonadotrophin releasing hormone antagonists, somatropin (human growth hormone, hGH), growth hormone receptor antagonists, melatonin and analogues, oxytocin and analogues, parathyroid hormone, somatostatin (growth hormone release-inhibiting hormone) and analogues (lanreotide octreotide, and pasireotide), vasopressin receptor antagonists (conivaptan, satavaptan, and tolvaptan), and vasopressin and analogues (desmopressin and terlipressin). There are special reviews on paradoxical hyperglycemia due to pasireotide and on leptin and its recombinant human form, metreleptin.
