Abstract

In West Virginia, the practice of establishing a stream and wetland mitigation bank relies on integrating a number of individual assessment methodologies developed by state and federal Agencies. The assessments are then combined using the West Virginia Stream and Wetland Valuation Metric to generate an index score, which can be used to determine both mitigation credits and liabilities. In this chapter, we describe these methods and the practical application of applying them to develop the Bear Knob Mitigation Site in the West Fork watershed in West Virginia.
