Abstract

The Web is now a major center for business transactions, with an increasing proportion of bandwidth taking the form of ecommerce. The projected growth of the Internet economy is enormous. It is very important to consider end-to-end performance and response time as being the product. Service providers need to provide an optimal user experience that can be measured in low latencies and fast download times. There are various approaches to caching load balancing, and content delivery networks (CDNs) can be implemented in a variety of ways depending on the specific requirements of the service provider and its clients. The dynamic and delay-sensitive characteristics of mission-critical and real-time content require much higher levels of Internet quality of service (QoS) than have traditionally been available.
