Abstract
This chapter introduces a straightforward protocol for the discovery, excavation, and recovery of human remains (surface-scattered, buried, decomposed, or skeletonized), as well as the processing of the site as a unique crime scene. An abbreviated archaeological recovery technique is outlined to instruct how human remains as evidence are secured undamaged from soil contexts and properly documented. Further, the packaging of this evidence is highlighted to ensure delivery of intact and valuable items for collaborative forensic expert analyses.
