Abstract

In the first edition of this book other management systems were considered for the integration process such as the then BS7799 (Information Security Management) and Investors in People (IIP) and the chemical industry's ‘Responsible Care Program’. However, although some organizations have successfully done this, in the majority of integrated systems certified to date, organizations have integrated their (usually) initial ISO 9001 system with ISO 14001. Moreover, in recent years there has been a tremendous surge of interest in Occupational Safety and Health management systems, and since the publication of OHSAS 18001 in 1999, this has stimulated further integration. Thus there are increasing numbers of organizations that now have a management system encompassing Quality, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety management systems.
