Abstract
In Information Protection Function Four: Incident Response Management, the fourth of five major information protection (IP) functions that are the necessary components of an IP framework is discussed. Incident response management involves developing and managing the capability to respond to and recover from disruptive and destructive events. This chapter outlines the objectives of incident response management and their key elements, which include processes, plans, exercises, activation, documentation, and continuous improvement. Incident response management involves the coordination of an incident response team (IRT), the designation of an incident reporting center (IRC), and the implementation of an incident response plan (IRP). At the end of the chapter, a list of additional resources for incident response improvement is provided.
