Abstract

This chapter describes power system harmonic distortion. The continued evolution of technology with changing harmonic emission levels and equipment susceptibility has seen harmonic distortion remain a topic of interest for power quality engineers. The recent rapid increase in renewable energy generation which is now almost exclusively interfaced with the supply network by means of power electronic converters (sometimes known as inverter-based resources—IBRs) has presented another challenge with respect to management of harmonic distortion in electricity supply networks.
