Abstract

In this chapter, automated feed dispenser of Hawaii and IIT type feeder developed by the author are described in detail. Their constructional details and working principle are included. Theoretical analysis made to find out the time of opening of different feed boxes of the feeder developed by the author is included. This is supported by data generated by conducting experiments by the author. Details of demand feeder, automatic fish feeder, and feeder operated by solar power, all developed at Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, India are discussed. Design and fabrication of demand-type fish feeder are included. Advantages of demand feeder and solar power operated are discussed. Design details of demand feeder developed at Hiroshima, Japan, its constructional details, and details of other components such as electric switch, trigger assembly, and feed dispenser assembly are included. Some numericals developed by the author are included for solving practical problems.
