Abstract

Dynamic interaction between pantograph and contact line influences the operational performance and safety of an electric train, as well as the operational lifetime of the pantograph and overhead contact line system. Dynamic interaction between pantograph and contact line depends on the characteristics and operation environment of the pantograph and contact line. Basic operation environment refers to the operating speed of the electric train, the quantity of and distance between current-collecting pantographs, and the position of the pantograph on the vehicle. Pantograph and overhead contact line contact force and contact wire uplift are core parameters indicating dynamic interaction between pantograph and contact line. Computer simulation results based on pantograph and overhead contact line contact force and contact wire uplift can be used for forecast and comparison of dynamic interaction between pantograph and contact line. Measured results of pantograph and overhead contact line contact force and contact wire uplift can be used for assessment of pantograph and overhead contact line contact quality, as well as failure diagnosis for the pantograph and overhead contact line system.
