Abstract

Gas streams produced during petroleum recovery, petroleum refining, and natural gas processing, while ostensibly hydrocarbon in nature, may contain large amounts of corrosive acid gases, such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide, resulting in a high potential for corrosion. Although the processing of natural gas is in many respects less complicated than the processing and refining of crude oil, it is equally as necessary to ensure that all of the corrosive constituents are removed.
