Abstract

This chapter discusses how data warehouse enabled business intelligence can be coupled with the transactional side of Business-to Business (B2B). The two primary categories of B2B e-commerce that are briefly described are supply chain oriented B2B and marketplace centric B2B. For the most part, B2B is a “brave new world,” and companies can define their business models in whatever way they see fit. It is, therefore, imperative that business intelligence services be defined as critical and highly integrated aspects of those B2B business models, with business intelligence enabled by the appropriate forms of data warehousing underneath. The material discusses in this chapter is merely a starting point for B2B companies. By following the approach discussed so far, where the data warehousing capabilities track directly backs to the company's business strategy, building a business-intelligence-enabled enterprise can be a straightforward proposition with universal support and buy-in.
