Abstract

Bistatic SAR, whose transmitter and receiver are mounted on different platforms, has independent motions of double platforms and more degrees of freedom, but increased error sources. It is more difficult to get precise data of position and attitude for the two platforms in the same coordinate system at the same time. Mathematically, the problem of SAR parameter estimation can be attributed to that of Doppler parameter estimation. This chapter focuses on the measurement, calculation, and estimation methods of bistatic SAR Doppler parameters, as well as the corresponding requirements of precision. Starting from echo law and iterative autofocus, the typical methods of Doppler parameter estimation, including Doppler centroid, Doppler frequency rate, and the derivative of Doppler frequency rate of bistatic SAR, are presented, followed by some examples.
