Abstract
Massive irreparable rotator cuff tears are difficult clinical situations with a variety of treatment options. Previous nonoperative treatments and partial repair may address pain but do little to advance the function of the shoulder. Tendon transfer is the treatment of choice for active individuals interested in more than pain control. Many different tendon transfers have been described for anteroinferior and posterosuperior rotator cuff deficiency. We describe our current techniques of arthroscopic assisted lower trapezius transfer to address posterosuperior tears and arthroscopic assisted vs. open latissimus dorsi transfer to address anteroinferior tears.
