Abstract

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) poses great diagnostic challenges to clinicians as its diagnosis should not be made lightly. Correct diagnosis of IBD, either ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease, is greatly enhanced by a multidisciplinary approach. Endoscopists and pathologists should be aware of the differential diagnoses of IBD and learn from each other. This chapter aims to provide a histologic–endoscopic correlation of a variety of IBDs and non-IBDs to allow endoscopists and pathologists to become familiar with the most common differential diagnoses of IBD. In addition, this also provides histologic–endoscopic correlation of IBD-associated neoplasia.
