Abstract

This chapter describes the perspective for the new millennium of renewable energy in Poland. It discusses the latest development in renewable energy sources in Poland. It is shown what considerable work has already been done, compared to with the situation at the beginning of the 1990s. The barriers that exist or can be encountered in implementing renewable energy technology in Poland are addresses in the chapter. It discusses future prospects and possibilities for developing renewable energy in Poland. For the first time, some laws and regulations relate in a direct way to renewable. There are positive signs of renewable energy development. A regulation on purchasing electric energy produced by the renewable energy technologies is now in force. The chapter explains that there is an urgent need to formulate the basis for a national program to develop, promote, and implement the renewable energy technologies. It is therefore necessary to continue efforts to establish an adequate institutional and organizational framework to promote better use of solar energy in Poland.
