Abstract

The focus of this chapter is to discuss the various analytical methods that can be used to monitor and thereby control water treatment chemicals, including biocides, corrosion control and scale control chemicals, which minimize the formation of scale. First, the overall water quality will be considered. Then methods that determine the ions that form scale, as well as methods to determine the scale control chemicals will both be discussed. Biocides and corrosion control chemicals will be described next. Finally, online and at-line monitoring will be presented.
