Abstract

In the last decade mobile phone applications (apps)—from tools to games—have become ubiquitous in society and have likewise entered the organic chemistry classroom. This chapter introduces a variety of apps, including some designed specifically for the teaching of chemistry. After surveying the capabilities and functions of each application, evidence-based pedagogical uses are suggested. The apps are then contextualized within the organic chemistry curriculum, proposing ideas for implementation as tools for teaching, learning, reviewing, and assessment.
