Abstract
Solar photovoltaic (PV) integration into bulk power networks refers to the integration of PV systems into large-scale power grids. This integration is vital to achieving a transition to renewable energy sources and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. The fluctuation and instability of solar irradiance, grid stability, and power quality are all challenges associated with solar PV integration. Various interaction strategies, such as voltage regulation, frequency control, and energy storage systems, have been developed to tackle these challenges. Integration of solar PV systems has several benefits, including reduced dependence on fossil fuels, enhanced energy security, and fuel savings. However, meticulous management and collaboration between stakeholders including policymakers, companies, and infrastructure vital to the successful integration of solar PV into bulk power networks. Existing studies from regions that have effectively integrated solar PV into their electricity grids can provide substantial insight into the good practices learned. Essentially, the integration of solar PV into bulk power networks is necessary for the shift to a future supported by renewable energy sources, but it requires diligent preparation and execution to be effective.
